There are so many things to be thankful for. First and foremost, I would like to thank the Lord for deeming me fit to see another day on this planet.
I am thankful for my close friends and my family, I am thankful for my health, and I am thankful for this spirit of perseverance that lives within me.
I'm putting this up here so that everyone is in the loop and doesn't need to feel left out in the dark.
Firstly: We're all ok.
After the DSA party, we were driving back down Allens, and near Platforms, someone turned without having the right-away and smashed into the driver's side, setting off the airbags and totaling both cars.
I was sitting behind the driver.
I had a concussion and needed to receive 10 stitches and 5 staples. My other friend is experiencing back and leg pain.
Everyone is ok, thank God.
I'm alive and I have been truly blessed with great people in my life, people that called me in the wee hours of the morning and tolerated talking to my very incoherent and uncognizant self.
My brothers definitely displayed that the bonds of a fraternity are equivalent to blood family; my numerous little sisters were unfallible in ensuring (quite constantly) that I was ok; and my friends were all very supportive.
But I'm fine. I ask that anyone who reads this pray for the other people in the car as well. I think the fact that I don't really remember anything after I folded up my banner at the campus party (the accident, the bleeding, the sitting on the curb, the stitches, the hospital, etc) is the reason that the only pain I'm feeling is in my head and my arm ("tetanus" shot. Yeah right, I played Metal Gear Solid. They totally made my ass a carrier for FOXDIE).
The mental and emotional aftermath of an accident is unerving, mostly for the driver, and I ask that most of the prayer be directed to the other passengers. The only pain I'm feeling is physical. That'll heal.
With much love, thanks and regards,
R. Johnson
